Dear Animas Valley Community,
Happy 2019! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break and are enjoying the snow as much as we are. It is a welcome and needed gift from Mother Nature. With winter upon us please help your child remember to dress appropriately for the weather.
As 2019 unfolds, AVE continues to teach and model perseverance. Research has shown that students with a growth mind-set believe that if a task or skill is difficult they can achieve mastery through perseverance. It has been exciting and rewarding to watch your children’s motivation to work hard and achieve their goals grow and develop this school year. Teachers are working to challenge all students by setting high expectations and creating learning environments in which students feel respected and safe to take risks. Students are learning that their efforts matter and that making mistakes is an important part of the learning process.
As a school family we continue to work on building a sense of belonging for all and a willingness to learn through positive interactions. Self-regulation skills are being introduced at our Monday Morning Meetings by Mrs. Layman. Students are applying these skills throughout the school day.
As we continue the school year, please visit our web site often as we update it regularly to keep you informed. In addition we also send out our Husky Howler every Monday with weekly updates.
See you soon!
