School districts produce several required and beneficial communications documents
throughout the year, some mandated by law and some to stay connected with
families and the community. In order to help streamline these costs in the budget,
which in turn funnels money back to the classrooms, we are reaching out to
community partners to support our work through sponsorships!

Pediatric Partners of the Southwest To Provide Medical Oversight of DHS School-Based Health Clinic

Pediatric Partners of the Southwest will assume operations as the medical provider for the School-Based Health Center (SBHC) at Durango High School effective July 1, 2019.

The School-Based Health Centers have been a partnership between Durango School District 9-R and Axis Health System (AHS) for the last 12 years. AHS and 9-R worked closely over the years to develop the SBHC model of supports and services for students and youth in the area, providing high-quality and accessible healthcare to La Plata County. Pediatric Partners of the Southwest (PPSW) is well positioned to assume the medical sponsorship and direct health care services at the Durango High School SBHC.

District Accountability Advisory Committee Parent Survey

This annual parent survey is prepared by the District Accountability Advisory Committee (DAAC). The committee is composed of of parents, teachers, and administrators from every school as well as community members and representatives from 9-R administration, the Board of Education and the Financial Advisory Committee. Each year the results of the survey are used to inform schools and the administration of areas for improvement and areas of strength.

Durango School District 9-R Receives $1.1M Grant to Support School Safety

The School Security Disbursement program enacted by SB18-269 provides funding to improve security in public school facilities and vehicles and to support training for school personnel. The Colorado Division of Homeland Security made $29M in funds available to school districts across the state and Durango was awarded $1.1M in the grant to support its ongoing school safety measures.

Farewell to Ms. Jeri

At this Tuesday morning meeting, our Husky family cheered and howled in honor of our dear Ms. Jeri who is retiring this year. Ms. Jeri has been working in education for over 27 years. Ms. Jeri has spent the last several years working as a paraprofessional in Ms. Mandy's preschool classroom. We will miss you Ms. Jeri, but happy adventures lay ahead.

Yearbook Deadline Extended

Make sure to stop by and purchase a yearbook for your child. The deadline has been moved from April 5th until we sell out. At this point we have about 40 books left to sell. They are $12 each. Please reach out to Mrs. Lovato if you have questions at slovato@durangoschools.org.
