Bond update: District outlines 2025–28 projects, names GC for Three Springs school

Citizen Bond Oversight Committee (CBOC)

The CBOC continues to meet monthly to oversee the process, confirm that spending aligns with ballot language, and review the budget.

Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC)

The LRPC last met in June and continues work on a long-term school replacement plan. It is also considering options to convert and repurpose the Florida Mesa Elementary School campus once the new elementary school at Three Springs opens in fall 2028. The next LRPC meeting is in September.

The Design Advisory Group has met six times and most recently reviewed schematic design, the initial phase in which the architect translates the vision into a preliminary design concept. The district issued a request for proposals for a general contractor and, after reviewing submittals and conducting interviews, selected Nunn Construction. Nunn brings K-12 experience and a relationship-focused approach.

Workforce housing

We are still weighing options that have been presented through various conversations with potential partners, and we hope to be able to provide more information in our next update. These options have varied timelines for delivery, but our continued goal is to provide a solution that is affordable and meets the needs of our staff.

Elimination of leased facilities

We are continuing to explore options to satisfy this scope with the LRPC and local realtors. The last remaining leased facility houses the Facilities/Custodial and Technology departments. The Technology Department will move to the District Administration Office in fall 2025. The Hub has already moved to its new location, and Durango Big Picture High School (DBPHS) will move to its new, district-owned facility in fall 2026.
