Welcome Back!

Title VI Welcomes Dr. Parsons-Yazzie

Through a Durango Education Foundation (DEF) core academic grant, the Durango 9-R Title VI program has been able to partner with the Durango Public Library to bring author Dr. Evangeline Parsons-Yazzie to Durango for a special cultural literacy enrichment program. Dr. Parsons-Yazzie will also be visiting some of our schools and reading her book to our students.

Durango Fire Protection District Hosts Open House

The Fire Station located at 1235 Camino Del Rio is hosting an open house on Saturday, October 15th from 10am - 2pm. Come meet your local firefighters and medics, tour the station and trucks, watch live demonstrations and meet the board of directors.

Calling All Volunteers!

This year, Ms. Bailey will have a snack table at Fall Carnival to help fund the music room and the orchestra. If there are any parents who are willing to donate healthy snacks or beverages to sell at the table (baked goods, granola bars, fizzy waters, juice boxes) please call ext. 3467 or send her an email at [email protected] Thanks for all you do!

Animas Valley Announces IB Leadership Team

Animas Valley Elementary School’s IB Leadership Team was announced today. These students have been given the opportunity to take on this leadership role to help make decisions and to be the voice for our student body. They each submitted a paragraph explaining why they would make a good leader.
Here is our new team! J.J., Kaliyah, Sydney, Blake, Avery, Bailey, Calista, Norah, and Chelsea. Thank you all for your commitment.

State Releases PARCC Results – Understanding the Scores

Today, the Colorado Department of Education released the state’s Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, or PARCC. This marks the second year that the PARCC assessment has been administered in the Durango 9-R school system and parents will soon receive score reports that detail how students performed on last spring’s assessments in English language arts, math and science.
